QUERN is a browser-based proof-of-work network settled on Solana. The network issues your browser a search: find an input whose SHA 256 begins with a required number of zero bits. Finding one takes about 2^difficulty attempts on your GPU. Checking one takes the server exactly one hash. That asymmetry is the whole design. A compute network has to verify the work it pays for, and if verification costs as much as the work itself, the server ends up performing the entire workload a second time and has harvested nothing. Here verification is a single operation, so every result can be checked and none has to be trusted. Nothing your browser reports about itself is priced. Not its speed, not its hardware, not how long it says a task took. Payouts come only from proofs the server verified. What QUERN does not claim: no AI model is being trained here, no customer is renting this compute, no rendering or scientific workload is being processed. The task types are pluggable and useful workloads can be added they are not here yet, and the interface says so. Runs in desktop Chrome or Edge with WebGPU. Nothing is installed. Closing the tab stops the node.
