A California startup is building a 7-foot-tall robot that honestly looks like it walked straight out of a sci-fi horror movie. It's called Threehalves, and it's designed to go where humans shouldn't. Wildfires, collapsed buildings, toxic environments, mines, and other dangerous places where sending in a person could be life-threatening. Instead of risking firefighters or rescue crews, a human operator controls the robot remotely while using interchangeable tools like chainsaws, drills, and other equipment to get the job done. I'll be honest... If I was trapped in a burning building and this thing came walking through the smoke toward me, I'd be relieved...
